Weather-Resistant Outdoor Tiles in Cairns

We recommend high-quality porcelain or ceramic materials, offering durability and resilience against the elements in Cairns' climate. For a softer yet equally robust alternative, we also recommend slate, which is ideal for tiling decks and patio areas.

Generally, ceramic is less durable than other materials. It can be used for decorative purposes in light-traffic areas around the outside of your property but we don’t recommend it for high-traffic areas or where furniture might stand. We wouldn’t recommend Lappato or Amber tiles the way we would for an indoor area.

You can tile over concrete. First, you must clean it thoroughly, apply a waterproofing membrane and use a polymer-modified mortar adhesive suitable for outdoor use. Once you have prepared the concrete, you can absolutely tile over it.

Tiles, unlike other materials, are incredibly easy to keep clean. For smooth materials such as ceramic and marble, you can simply wipe an outdoor mop or sponge across the surface to clean it. For rougher materials or for organic growth, you can use a pressure washer.
